Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have more information on your teachers?

All our teachers are DBS checked and fully-qualified with many years’ experience teaching in their specialist subject.

What ages do you teach?

Children from age 5 to 16.

What subjects do you teach?

We teach English and Maths, 11+ exam preparation and GCSEs. For younger children we teach Reading, Writing, Spelling, Comprehension and Maths. For the older children we practice past papers and teach them exam techniques.

Do you teach Home-Schooled children?

Our tuition is ideal for children who are studying at home, as it provides a learning environment with other children, which may be missing at home. We follow the school curriculum for Maths and English so you can be assured they will cover the essential material required for the National Curriculum in an effective and sensitive way. We can also help them with preparation for the GCSE exams in English and Maths.

Do you teach Gifted Children?

Gifted children are often not stretched at school. Teachers in schools often struggle to extend a gifted child, we can offer them extension work and an opportunity to tackle more interesting work.

How long are the sessions?

Each session in the Centre is 80 minutes long, and is made up of a variety of activities. During the course of the session your child will be given both traditional and computer-based work to do. Younger children have a greater number of shorter activities, and older ones will spend longer on each task. At the end of each session the teacher will give you feedback about their progress and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

When are you open?

Weekdays: 5.00pm – 6:20pm
Saturdays: 9:00am – 1:30pm

What if we miss a session?

If you need to rearrange a session you can reschedule either by phone or email. 24 hours notice is required.

Do you offer refunds?

We cannot offer refunds for sessions that are missed, due to the administrative costs involved in providing our service.

How long is the assessment?

It takes about 30 minutes to do the Maths assessment and 45 minutes for the English Assessment. You can choose the time that suits you the best for the assessment.

What do we need to bring for the assessment?

You don’t need to bring any special equipment to the Assessment. We will provide you with all the equipment you need for the test. You may either wait in the waiting area or drop and pick them after the assessment.

After the assessment, we can feed back to you by phone about their abilities and advise the most appropriate way forward. We will describe and discuss the outcome of the assessment with you and discuss the suitable times/days available.
